Who needs defenders when you have Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo up front? Wayne Rooney scored his 20th goal of the season and Ronaldo set up Michael Carrick as Manchester United cruised to a 2-0 win over Sheffield United that temporarily restored its six-point lead over Chelsea in the race for the English Premier League title. United shut down its opponents despite having to play with two midfielders at the outside back positions. With defenders Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Nemanja Vidic, Mikael Silvestre and John O'Shea all injured, Darren Fletcher started at right back and Kieran Richardson came on for Patrice Evra at left back after the Frenchman went off following a nasty challenge by Colin Kazim-Richards. Second-place Chelsea visits West Ham United on Wednesday (TV: Setanta Sports USA, live, 2:55 pm ET).
