Santos took a slim lead in its Concacaf Champions League semifinal series with Mexican rival Atlante, beating the Cancun club, 2-1, at home on Wednesday thanks to two spectacular goals by Colombian Carlos Quintero.

Quintero, whose two late goals capped a memorable comeback against the Montreal Impact in the quarterfinals, scored a goal in each half -- the first after chesting down a flicked-on cross in the middle of the penalty area and driving a right-footed blast past, the second on a blast from 25 yards.

Gabriel Pereyra scored in the 34th minute for Atlante.

The second leg will be played April 8 in Cancun.

The Puerto Rico Islanders head to Mexico City with a 2-0 lead over Cruz Azul in the other series.
