[COLLEGE] Trevor Adair, who has coached Clemson's men's team for the last 14 seasons, was placed on a leave of absence after being arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly assaulting his two daughters.

He was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond after being charged with two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Police received a 911 call early Saturday morning with reports of a fight and were told by witnesses that Adair struck his two daughters several times, causing minor injuries, according to the Daily Journal/Messenger.

Clemson Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips issued the following statement:

"I visited with Coach Adair on Saturday, and this is an extremely difficult situation for Trevor and his family. I have placed Coach Adair on a leave of absence so he can address these issues. We recognize the charges are very serious in nature."

Adair has a 208-115-33 record in 18 seasons as a head coach at Brown and Clemson. He led the Tigers to the 2005 Men's College Cup semifinals and five appearances in the NCAA Division I quarterfinals.
