WPS League Commissioner Tanya Antonucci, on hand for the game, expressed her pleasure with Chicago and the league: "Chicago's been great. It was a little surprising that WUSA didn't pick Chicago for a place to have a team. Obviously there is a rich tradition of soccer in Chicago."
Antonucci believes the league has lived up to its own modest expectations so far: "Our first few games have been solid. We said that we hoped 4,000 to 6,000 fans would attend our games. We opened very strong. We're averaging about 6,000 fans per game. We set realistic expectations for ourselves."
