Florida's Weston Soccer Club will join the California Development Academy, Houston Dynamo, Kansas City Wizards Juniors, McLean (Va.) Youth Soccer and NJSA 04 as new Development Academy members for the 2009-10 season in a late move that signals a possible shakeup in South Florida.

Two other South Florida teams began the season in the Development Academy, Miami FC Kendall and Schulz Academy, though Schulz Academy was recently dropped from the list of 2008-09 Development Academy teams.

U.S. Soccer named Weston as the 79th team for 2009-10, meaning one club has been dropped.

Former MLS Project-40 player Carlos Parra, Weston's director of coaching, will head up the under-15/16 team.

Alvin James, who played for the APSL Ft. Lauderdale Strikers and coaches Florida prep powerhouse American Heritage Delray, will head up the under-17/18 team.

Weston SC products include Rodrigo Hidalgo and Brian Sylvestre, former members of the U.S. U-17 Residency Program.
