Newcomers added to U-20 national team

In its first camp since qualifying for the Under-20 World Cup Sept. 24-Oct. 16 in Egypt, U.S. under-20 national team coach Thomas Rongen will bring in 20 players for a camp beginning May 23 in Sarasota, Fla., to be held in conjunction with the Development Academy Spring Showcase. Rongen called up six players who were not part of qualifying, including Gerson Mayen, who has had an excellent spring for MLS's hottest team, Chivas USA.

The U.S. U-20s, who will play two friendly matches against Costa Rica on May 25 and May 27, feature five players from FC Dallas -- Kyle Davies, who recently signed after two years in England at Southampton, Josh Lambo, Peri Marosevic, Brek Shea and Anthony Wallace.

The other newcomers include Toronto FC's Fuad Ibrahim, Jose Gonzalez, who spent part of this past season in the Mexican Second Division, Alfredo Morales of Germany's Hertha Berlin, Wake Forest's Ike Opara and 18-year-old Guillermo Torres, younger brother of U.S. national team midfielder Jose Francisco Torres.

Rongen will add six players from the Development Academy Showcase.

The USA was drawn into Group C alongside Germany, Cameroon and South Korea for Egypt '09.

U-20 Roster:
GOALKEEPERS: Josh Lambo (FC Dallas), Brian Perk (UCLA).
DEFENDERS: Kyle Davies (FC Dallas), Jorge Flores (Chivas USA), Aaron Maund (Univ. of Notre Dame), Ike Opara (Wake Fores Univ.), Anthony Wallace (FC Dallas), Sheanon Williams (unattached).
MIDFIELDERS: Danny Cruz (Houston Dynamo), Dilly Duka (Rutgers Univ.), Jose Gonzalez (Potros Chetumal/MEX), Jared Jeffrey (Club Brugge/BEL), Gerson Mayen (Chivas USA), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin/GER), Brian Ownby (Univ. of Virginia), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Guillermo Torres (Longview H.S.).
FORWARDS: Fuad Ibrahim (Toronto FC), Peri Marosevic (FC Dallas) Tony Taylor (Jacksonville Univ.).
