U.S. U-18s head to Portugal

Mike Matkovich has called in 18 players for the U.S. U-18 boys national team's trip to Portugal, where it will face Finland, Germany and Portugal at the annual Lisbon International, the biggest tournament of the year for the squad.

Former U-17 Gregory Garza, who is in the youth system at Portugal's Sporting, is the only professional player in the ranks.

Defender Gale Agbossoumonde and midfielder Amobi Okugo were part of the U.S. team that recently qualified for the 2009 Under-20 World Cup.

U.S. U-18 Roster
GOALKEEPERS: Justin Luthy (Columbus Crew Academy), Zachary MacMath (Univ. of Maryland).
DEFENDERS: Gale Agbossoumonde (unattached; Syracuse, N.Y.), Chad Barson (Columbus Crew Academy), Paolo Del Piccolo (Colorado Rush AS Monaco), Gregory Garza (Sporting/POR), Kofi Sarkodie (Univ. of Akron), Zarek Valentin (PA Classics).
MIDFIELDERS: Jose Altamirano (Del Mar Sharks), Steven Birnbaum (Pateadores), Miles Byass (Arsenal FC), Nicholas Millington (Wake Forest Univ.), Amobi Okugo (San Juan Lightning Crew), Dillon Powers (Andromeda).
