[MLS] New York Red Bulls midfielder Jorge Rojas was fined $1,000 and suspended for one game, in addition to the automatic one-game red-card suspension, for an "egregious offense" and failure to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner after being issued a red card in the May 16 game vs. the Houston Dynamo.

The MLS Disciplinary Committee also fined Real Salt Lake defender Ian Joy $500 for inappropriate comments directed at the officiating crew at halftime of Real Salt Lake's against the Kansas City Wizards May 16.

In Rojas' case, the Disciplinary Committee reviewed the play and concluded that the contact by Rojas to the head of Dynamo midfielder Brian Mullan was egregious and endangered the safety of the opponent.

Rojas will serve the two-game suspension for the Red Bulls games vs. the Chicago Fire on May 24 and Colorado Rapids on May 30.
