[WPS] Sky Blue FC, Women's Professional Soccer's New Jersey franchise, has suspended its head coach and general manager, Ian Sawyers. Assistant coach Kelly Lindsey was in charge in its 2-1 loss to the Washington Freedom on Saturday.
In a statement released hours before Saturday's game, Thomas Hofstetter, chief executive officer and president of Sky Blue Soccer, said:
"Differences have arisen between Ian and the ownership of the organization. We are working through this matter as professionally as possible and will have further information available sometime next week."
