Longtime AYSO leader Burton Haimes, who served seven years as national president and 12 years as chairman of the board, and Cherie Tucker, who has been active at all levels of AYSO for more than 35 years, were inducted into the AYSO Hall of Fame.

Haimes served for a record 30 years on the National Board of Directors of the organization that was founded in 1964 and now has more than 50,000 teams and 650,000 players.

He was also a member of the U.S. Soccer Federation's Executive Committee and its Board of Directors.

"His commitment to and passion for AYSO has been unsurpassed in the giving of personal and professional time," AYSO national executive director Rick Davis. "His dedication has served as an example to others and is acknowledged and appreciated."

Tucker served AYSO as a longtime volunteer and as national executive director.

"As an untiring AYSO evangelist, she helped others aspire to her vision of AYSO soccer for all kids supported by the most prepared volunteers," Davis said. "With great passion and hands-on style she set a direction for AYSO and challenged everyone to serve at the highest level."

Other honors bestowed at AYSO's AGM in Dallas on Memorial Day Weekend included the Spirit Awards:

Coaching Spirit Award: Dave Stoneback
Referee Spirit Award: Ronald Sakamoto
Management Spirit Award: Alan Matre
VIP Enrichment Award: Jim (JR) Rosenberg
