Instead of preparing for the 2009 fall campaign, University of Maine men's soccer coach Pat Laughlin and assistant Trevor Singer spent recent weeks helping their players find places to play after Maine dropped the men's soccer and women's volleyball as part of its cost-cutting measures. The Bears were contacted by just about every major program in the country.

"We have, pretty much, found a spot for all of the players. In some cases, the players have narrowed it down to a few schools," Laughlin told the Bangor Daily News. "For Trevor and me, there was so much emotion attached to trying to do this. But we made it an immediate priority to find these guys opportunities. It was our responsibility. The players wanted to be here but since they didn't have that option, we wanted to find them a viable alternative."

Daniel Tannous is headed to 2008 Division I runner-up North Carolina, while goalkeeper Nemanja Kostic is transferring to Indiana.

Midfielder Nikola Bogdanovic is returning to Oral Roberts, the school from which he transferred to Maine.
