[GOLD CUP] Concacaf has allowed the USA to add seven players to its 23-man Gold Cup roster because the USA played in the Confederations Cup, which ended June 28 with the USA's 3-2 loss in the final to Brazil. Only 18 players may dress for a game. The seven players, all of whom saw Confederations Cup action, can join the team at any time during the tournament. Among the additions is Jozy Altidore, who scored for the USA in its 2-0 semifinal upset over Spain.

Coach Bob Bradley added goalkeeper Brad Guzan, defender Jonathan Bornstein, midfielders Ricardo Clark, Benny Feilhaber and Sacha Kljestan, and forwards Altidore and Conor Casey. It is not certain when they will join the squad.

In group play, the USA faces Grenada July 4, Honduras July 8 and Haiti July 11. It could then play three more games, from quarterfinals to final. One scenario would be to have the Confederations Cup crew of seven arrive for the knockout stage.

"The players that have been added will be considered as we move through the tournament," Bradley said. "So we have not finalized all the decisions yet, but there are factors for different guys in terms of how much they played and rest. We now have more options as we move forward."
