Mexico's Torrado Says 'Forget Gold Cup'

Nobody around Concacaf is looking for Mexico to rest on its laurels after serving up a humiliating 5-0 defeat to the USA in the Gold Cup final. While much of that squad was rewarded with call-ups for the Aug. 12 match at Azteca, captain Gerardo Torrado says they still know that they have a lot of work to do in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup, starting with getting a full three points out of their sizeable home-field advantage.

"Given our situation, the most important thing is to win. The ideal thing would be to win, play attractively and to please our supporters, but the most important thing right now is to win. If the rest comes to fruition, fine. It would be welcomed," said the midfielder. "Every game is different and we need to forget the Gold Cup. That is over and in the books. This is a new game with different players. Everything that happened in the Gold Cup, we need to forget that."
