Contrary to initial news reports, the Spanish newspaper Marca has claimed that Real Madrid's Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder never boarded the plane headed to Malpensa airport to conclude a deal with Inter Milan. Sneijder will now reportedly fight for his place, which looks insecure under coach Manuel Pellegrini. The club has stripped Sneijder of his No. 10 jersey, as it was seen on Lassana Diarra on Monday in a friendly against Rosenberg at the Santiago Bernabeu. Sneijder has made over 50 appearances for Real since 2007, but the 25-year-old appears surplus to the team's requirements with the arrivals of Kaka, Xabi Alonso and Cristiano Ronaldo in midfield.
