Organizers of the inaugural Globe Soccer conference hope it will serve as an opportunity for more fair and transparent transfers during the midseason transfer window. Recalling Major League Baseball's "winter meetings," the conference aims to facilitate trade deals under the same roof. The conference is set for Jan. 4 in Dubai.

Globe Soccer founder Enrico Bondoni said the event has the backing of FIFA, which is looking for ways to stop opportunistic agents from milking perverse profits from the billion-dollar transfer market. "We need a place where operators can come together on a fixed date every year," Rob Jansen, a representative of the European Football Agents' Association, said. "It is the creation of transparency in the transfer market, both financially and legally."

"This conference is a big opportunity for other clubs to come and discuss the perfect deal for both sides," said Rashid Al-Kamali, marketing director for Dubai Sports Council.
