"I'm getting used to this winning thing again," New York Red Bulls striker Dane Richards said after Sunday's 1-0 win over the Columbus Crew. "I like it." The win marked the second in a row for the Red Bulls and means the team avoided having the worst record in league history. The Red Bulls now have 16 points out of 24 games, surpassing the 2001 Tampa Bay Mutiny (14) and 1999 MetroStars (15). "That was my biggest concern," Red Bulls captain Juan Pablo Angel said. "I didn't want to be remembered in history for being part of the worst team in MLS. I can handle a bad year, but not being the worst, that's for sure."

Richards helped secure the three points with a fantastic solo effort. He picked up the ball in his own half after a cleared corner and sprinted 50 yards before finishing clinically around a defender. "Maybe earlier in the season, I trip over [something], it hit the post and go out or it go wide or I kick it over in the stands or something," Richards said. "Things are just falling into place now and I just wanted something to give the fans something to come out and watch, the diehard fans."

The Red Bulls' bye week comes at an unfortunate time for the team, as it appears to be building some confidence. "I wouldn't mind playing right through," Richards said. "Momentum is nice."
