[USL-1] The Montreal Impact became the third club in USL First Division history to win a third league championship when it beat the Vancouver Whitecaps, 3-1, Saturday before more than 13,000 fans at Stade de Saputo  and captured the series, 6-3, on aggregate.

The win gave the Impact a six-game sweep in the playoffs, becoming the first team to post a perfect record in the postseason since the 1999 Minnesota Thunder.

Montreal got goals from Americans Tony Donatelli and Joey Gjertsen -- both former Vancouver players -- and Panamanian international Roberto Brown to take a 3-0 lead in the 42th minute.

Ansu Toure pulled one back for the Caps just before halftime.

"We built up throughout the playoffs, and I think in the finals we peaked," said Gjertsen.
