Newcastle is no longer for sale as owner Mike Ashley has taken the club off the market. Ashley failed to find a buyer at his asking price, around $131 million for a club that he bought for $220 million two years ago. Ashley now says that he will provide over $30 million to help fund the club's return to the Premier League. He has also given coach Chris Hughton a contract to the end of next season. Hughton has overseen Newcastle's so-far successful stand at the top of the League Championship (second-tier).
