[OFF THE POST] Did Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich really spend nearly $50,000 on lunch at New York Italian restaurant Nello's? He did according to TMZ, which posted the bill on its Web site, and a waiter who told the Telegraph that Abramovich's party left half a bottle of $5,000 Chateau Petrus on the table that was finished off happily by other diners.

"There was a couple at the next table who ended up being given a half-finished bottle of Petrus," said a waiter quoted by the Telegraph. "They must have thought they had won the lottery."

The Telegraph reported that restaurant owner Nello Balan made the bill public and that a waiter said the staff high-fived each other in the kitchen about their $7,400 tip. But the Telegraph also reported that although Abramovich admitted to dining at Nello's with his pregnant girlfriend, Dasha Zhukova, his son Arkady and three business associates, he denied spending that much.

His spokesman said: "That bill does not belong to them. They spent only a fraction of that amount. Maybe it is someone else's bill."

The bill in question includes two bottles of Chateau Petrus wine, three bottles of La Tache Romanee Conti pinot noir and two magnums of Cristal rose champagne - all for $5,000 a bottle.

The cheapest item on the bill was a $12 bottle of water.
