[MONEY MATTERS] David Beckham's move to the Los Angeles Galaxy, a bust on the field for the first two years, has paid off at bank. His income reached nearly 10 million pounds ($16.5 million) from personal sponsorship deals during his first full season with the Galaxy.

Figures from the official British company registry show that Beckham's income from his Footwork Productions company in the year ending Dec. 31, 2008, were 9.97 million pounds.

Beckham also earns a base salary of $5.5 million from MLS via a separate company, Brand Beckham. The share of the merchandising he generates for the Galaxy and joint endorsements with wife Victoria also go through Brand Beckham.
