River Plate star to be sidelined at least seven months

[ARGENTINA] River Plate forward Diego Buonanotte will be sidelined for at least seven months after being seriously injured in a car accident Christmas morning in Santa Fe province that killed three friends. Buonanotte, a member of Argentina's 2008 Olympic gold-medal team, is in a hospital in Buenos Aires, where he remained sedated. He is in stable condition, having suffered a broken humerus and collar bone, a pulmonary contusion as well other injuries He was returning to his family home in the village of Teodelina at 6:45 a.m. when he lost control of his Peugeot in heavy rain and it hit a tree. Buonanotte and his friends Alexis Fulcheri, Gerardo Sune and Emanuel Melo were returning from a night at a nearby disco when the accident took place.
