Scorpions' Berman hat trick ups her output to 13 goals

[GIRLS NATIONAL LEAGUE] The under-15 Dallas Texans Red were the only team to clinch a berth in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships at the second U.S. Youth Soccer National League event that concluded Friday at the Disney's Soccer Showcase. The star of the day was Lauren Berman, whose hat trick for Scorpions Elite in a 3-2 win over the Texans gave her 13 goals in seven games.
 
The remaining four teams in each of the National League girls age groups will resume play March 19-21 in Las Vegas, Nev., at the 2010 Player's Soccer Showcase.

Champions will be crowned in each age group and the top two teams per age group will qualify for the National Championships July 20-25 in Overland Park, Kan.

Under-17 Girls. The Syosset Sting defeated the Montclair United Thunderbolts 2-1 in a repeat of the 2009 US Youth Soccer Region I final in their age group. Liana Cornacchio had back-to-back headers off of corner kicks in the 11th and 20th minutes for Syosset, whose 4-1-2 National League record leads the age group. Ponte Vedra Storm beat the Dallas Texans Red, 2-0, at the 2009 National Championships and won again, 2-1, on Friday.
 
Under-16 Girls. NSA and the Texans won game on Friday complete their 2009-10 National League campaigns with 4-1-2 records, but they will have to wait until the remaining four National League teams compete in Las Vegas to determine the Under-16 Girls League champion and the two team that will advance to the National Championships.

Under-15 Girls. The star of the day was Lauren Berman, whose hat trick for Scorpions Elite in a 3-2 win over the Texans gave her 13 goals in seven games. Two Illinois teams, Sockers FC Chicago and NSA Premier Fireballs, played to a 1-1 draw.
