U.S. ABROAD: Player moves; Onyewu sees red again

U.S. international defender Cory Gibbs has left Feyernoord, which deemed him expendable while he was out with a knee injury, for fellow Dutch Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag, where he joins American John O'Brien. Gibbs, 26, who previously played for Dallas and Germany's St. Pauli, played 15 games for Feyenoord during the 2004-05 season.

University of Maryland senior defender Chris Lancos, 21, has signed an amateur contract with German First Division club Kaiserslautern to play for its Third Division team. ... New Yorker Peter Philipakos, 23, has left Greek First Division champion Olympiakos for Greek Second Division club Aris Saloniki. Philipakos left American University after his junior year to sign with AEK Athens in January 2004. ... Manchester United has released 21-year-old Texas product Kenny Cooper. The striker joined the club in 2003, played on loan for Portuguese First Division club Academica Coimbra and English third-tier Oldham Athletic, but did not break into Man U's first team. ...

Last week, Standard Liege's U.S. national team defender Oguchi Onyewu received his third red card of the season, sent off for a foul in the 20th minute while his team led Gent, 1-0. Standard lost the Belgian Cup quarterfinal, 2-1. His two other reds came in league play.
