Michael Orozco, a 23-year-old Southern California product who has played for Mexican club San Luis since 2006, is is joining the Philadelphia Union, where he'll be reunited with Coach Peter Nowak, who coached Orozco on the U.S. U-23 national team at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Orozco will be on loan from San Luis. The Union landed him following a deal with the New York Red Bulls in which the Union sent the Red Bulls allocation money in exchange for New York's top spot in the MLS allocation order. Orozco has made one appearance with the full U.S. national team, when Nowak was assistant coach to Bob Bradley, in 2008.

"I have been working with Michael since 2008 with the national and Olympic national team, so having guy like that, an American kid who played in Mexico at the top level, is a good thing for us," said Nowak, who added that Orozco could play right, center or left back and gives the defense great versatility.
