[MEXICO] Mexican midfielder Juan Carlos Silva, a 22-year-old Club America teammate of Paraguayan striker Salvador Cabanas, who was shot in the head last week, was shot on Feb. 1 during a car-jacking attempt in Mexico City.

Silva, who was a member of Mexico's 2005 U-17 World Cup-winning team, suffered a non-life threatening bullet or pellet wound to his buttocks.

Silva, nicknamed "El Torito," debuted in the Mexican first division in August of 2007 and later that season scored both goals in a 2-1 win over archrival Chivas Guadalajara.

A product of Club America's youth program, Silva has made 53 first division appearances but did not see action in Las Aguilas' first four games of the current season. He started twice and made six appearances off the bench during the 17-game Apertura 2009 season.
