[AMERICANS ABROAD] Defenders Jay DeMerit and Frankie Simek were both on the winning side in games played Tuesday in the English League Championship.

ENGLAND, LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Kenny Cooper, sub: 45 minutes (Plymouth, 1-2, at Reading)
Argyle manager Paul Mariner says he's looking to get contributions from Cooper running through the midfield channels for the relegation candidate.

Jay DeMerit, 90 minutes (Watford, 2-0, vs. Bristol City)
Watford has been tough since Martin Taylor arrived on a free transfer from Birmingham and joined DeMerit in the middle of the backline.

Simek remained in the starting lineup at right back after starting at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
