Fox Soccer Plus to have ... rugby

[TELEVISION WATCH] The Fox Soccer Channel debuted as Fox Sports World in 1997 for a reason. It offered more than soccer. Now that Fox Soccer Plus -- Fox Soccer Channel 2 if you will -- will air, beginning on March 1, it will return to its roots. Rugby will be among the offers on the new Fox network.

Rugby and Australian rules football were among the offerings on Fox Sports World until all non-soccer programming was pulled in 2006 and the network renamed Fox Soccer Channel.

Fox's purchase of Setanta Sports properties means that rugby will return in the form of matches from England’s Guinness Premiership, the European Heineken Cup and Magners League.

In addition to the English Premier League, Italy’s Serie A and UEFA Champions League previously announced, Fox Soccer Plus will also air matches from the English FA Cup, England’s Coca-Cola Championship (second division) and League Cup.

Yes, and on my Charter Communications subscription too! And at no extra charge I hope!! We are already paying excessive charges to get the low definition FSC! Especially looking forward to seeing my beloved Blackpool FC again while they are (temporarily)in the Championship (well at least until the end of this season!)

I'm with Madison Oyer and Mike Gaire. Since I assume that DirecTV will continue to charge extra for it, I plan not to order FSC2, or whatever they call it, unless they offer both channels in HD. It is particularly galling now that ESPN2 does its EPL offerings in HD.

That's strange because I get Fox Soccer Channel in HD on Fios and I see commercials for Fox Soccer Plus in HD. I am a little annoyed because I have Setanta for Europa League and French Ligue 1. I am not going to keep paying for if they drop Europa League and French Ligue 1. I get enough English Premier League & Italy’s Serie A on Fox Soccer Channel and La Liga on Espn Deportes
