Porto’s Brazilian striker Hulk has been suspended from Portuguese league play for four months for assaulting a game secruity guard in the tunnel at the end of a game againstBenfica in December. Porto’s Romanian defender Cristian Sapunaru got a six-month ban for attacking a pair of security stewards.

“The punishments are exceptionally lowerthan the legal minimum (of between six months and three years) … because the inquiry concluded that the stewards provoked the players in the tunnel,” the league’s disciplinarycommittee chief Ricardo Costa said.
