[AMERICANS ABROAD] Notre Dame midfielder Michael Thomas, a second-round draft pick of the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, has signed with Halmstads BK in the Swedish top division, Allsvenskan. He joins former Irish teammate Ryan Miller at Halmstad.

Thomas, a central midfielder, was an all-Big East pick in 2009 after scoring six goals and six assists.

Miller earned All-America honors during his senior season at Notre Dame in 2007.

The Columbus Crew picked Miller in the third round of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. He signed with Halmstad this past January after playing with Lungskile in the Swedish second division.

Thomas and Miller will begin their 2010 Allsvenskan campaign on March 14 when Halmstad hosts to Trelleborg.
