England coach Fabio Capello hopes left back Wayne Bridge will reconsider his decision to quit the England national team because he couldn't play alongside former captain John Terry after revelations that Terry slept with Vanessa Perroncel, Bridge's ex-partner.

"The door for him is always open," said the Italian. "We have time, there is still three months until I will decide my final squad for South Africa. I hope that Wayne Bridge will be with us at the World Cup but I respect his decision."

With starting left back Ashley Cole seriously injured, Capello needed No. 2 Bridge to step in. "It came as a complete shock to Fabio," a source said. "He had already penciled Bridge in to play against Egypt next week."
