France played its first game since its controversial game against Ireland qualified it for the World Cup, and it was treated to a hostile reception from the home crowd at the Stade de France.
It only got when worse as the Bleus were outclassed by European champion Spain and fell, 2-0. Captain Thierry Henry left the game to whistles from the crowd, which shouted "Domenech démission!" ("Domenech resignation") to embattled coach Raymond Domenech.
France showed little in terms of offense and gave up two bad goals in the first half. Things got so bad in the second half the French fans cheered "Olé, Olé" as the Spaniards passed the ball around.
