Bafana Bafana head to month-long camp in Brazil

[WORLD CUP WATCH] South Africa national team coach Carlos Alberto Parreira is taking 29 players to his native Brazil for a month-long camp, the first of several World Cup training camps in preparation for the finals.

Teenager Kermit Erasmus and Daylon Claasen, who both play in the Netherlands, as the only two foreign-based players in the squad.

The squad includes eight players from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Nine players were on the South Africa team that reached the semifinals of the 2009 Confederations Cup.

Parreira, coach of Brazil's 1994 World Cup championship team, also will take Bafana Baf ana to camps in Germany in April and South Africa in May.

South Africa training roster:
Goalkeepers: Emile Baron (SuperSport United), Moeneeb Josephs (Orlando Pirates), Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs)
Defenders: (Mamelodi Sundowns), Siyanda Xulu (Mamelodi Sundowns), Matthew Booth (Mamelodi Sundowns), Siboniso GaxaInnocent Mdledle (Mamelodi Sundowns), Bongani Khumalo (SuperSport), Thabo Nthethe (Bloemfontein Celtic), Siyabonga Sangweni (Orlando Pirates), Lucas Thwala (Orlando Pirates).
