Bruce Arena expects Donovan back with Galaxy

Landon Donovan finds himself involved in tug-of-war between MLS's Los Angeles Galaxy and English club Everton, at which his loan is set to expire.

Hours after Everton manager David Moyes said he was hopeful that an extension of the loan agreement would take place, Los Angeles Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena shot down the move. "We're not interested," Arena said. "Landon will be back here March 15. We're being consistent with everything we've said all along."

Arena said the only circumstance in which Donovan would stay at Everton was if there was an MLS work stoppage. "If we didn't have a league going on," he said, "we would certainly entertain the idea of allowing Landon to stay there. If we have a league, Landon's going to be playing for the Galaxy."
