[HIGH SCHOOL] South Dakota will become the last state to add soccer in 2012-13. The High School Activities Association board voted 8-0 to add soccer as a sanctioned high school sport.
Some South Dakota schools have soccer, bit it's a club, not varsity sport. Teams must pay their own expenses.
Some schools opposed the move because of the costs.
It was estimated that it would cost $150,000 a year to add soccer for boys and girls at the three Sioux Falls public high schools.
