Southern California product Sasha Victorine, who played a decade of MLS ball, for the Los Angeles Galaxy, Kansas City and Chivas USA after starring for UCLA, has retired. Victorine, most recently a midfielder for Chivas USA, played in 242 MLS matches and had 32 goals and 41 assists. Recurring injuries are what led to his decision to retire.
"I feel lucky that I was able to play in front of my home fans for so much of my career," Victorine said in a news release. "I am now eager to start the next phase of my career."
Victorine, 32, is joining the front office of the Kansas City Wizards and will also serving as a color commentator on the team's television broadcasts.
