[CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE] Cruz Azul was the only one of four Mexican teams playing on the road to win first leg of its Concacaf Champions League quarterfinal series, beating Panama's Arabe Unido, 1-0, on Cristian Riveros' header in the 70th minute.

Cruz Azul, which was playing without Mexican national team midfielder Gerardo Torrado, was the 2009 Concacaf Champions League runner-up. It shares the record for most titles with Club America.

UNAM lost at Marathon of Honduras, 2-0, while Toluca and Pachuca tied the Columbus Crew (2-2) and Comunicaciones (1-1), respectively.
