Brazilian national team striker Adriano returned from his latest bout with what are believed to be alcohol problems to score the winning goal for Flamengo in their 1-0 victory over Vasco da Gama in the Carioca championship derby.

Adriano had not played since returning from London, where he played for Brazil in a friendly against Ireland 12 days earlier. He did not turn up for training upon his returns and missed Flamengo's next two games.

Adriano celebrated his goal by lifting his jersey to reveal a T-shirt with the message "May God forgive those bad people."
