Chinese club Changchun Yatai has denied watering its field to turn it into an "ice rink" for its Asian Champions League game against South Korea’s Jeonbuk Motors on Wednesday. The northeast China city is one of the country’s coldest.

“I heard that with the previous game with the Indonesian team it went down below 15 degrees,” Jeonbuk coach Choi Kang-hee said of Changchun's 9-0 win. "I also heard that they pour water on the field at nights. It seems like we may have to play our game on an ice rink.”

“Such accusation is totally untrue,” said Changchun coach Shen Xiangfu. “Our visitors, please don’t worry. We never do such things like watering the field to make it an ice rink.”
