Red Sox want to bring Rangers and Celtic to Fenway

It's been more than 40 years since a soccer game was played at famed Fenway Park in Boston, but the Red Sox are hoping to organize an Old Firm match between Glaswegian clubs Rangers and Celtic there on July 21.

Rangers and Celtic have never met outside of Scotland, but a match between to the two teams in the United States would sure to be a huge draw. Sam Kennedy, the Red Sox's chief operating officer, said the Red Sox and the city of Boston are bidding to bring the match to Fenway. The NASL's Boston Beacons played at Fenway in 1968.

The city of Baltimore, which also begun to aggressively seek out international matches following the success of last summer's match between Chelsea and AC Milan, is also looking to organize the match.
