Six players on Germany's 27-man provisional World Cup roster are 20 or 21. And Coach Joachim Loew included seven players from Bayern Munich, which is set to win the Bundesliga title and is in the Champions League final. The Bayern corps includes national team newcomer Holger Badstuber, a 21-year-old central defender, and forward Thomas Mueller, 20. Both broke into the Bayern's squad this season.
"We specifically picked younger players, Loew said. "They may be short on experience but they have a lot of qualities." Mueller scored 13 league goals for Bayern this season and will put pressure on Miroslav Klose (Bayern) and Lukas Podolski (Cologne), who scored three and two goals, respectively, for their clubs. The squad will be trimmed to 23 players.
