[USA 23] A day after the selection of the 23 players who will represent the USA at the World Cup, they headed to the White House for an official sendoff from President Barack Obama.

Also on hand was Vice President Joseph Biden and former President Bill Clinton, who joked, "I want to join the team to get the shoes."

He was speaking of the brown shoes the players were wearing as part of their outfit for the White House visit.

"Everybody's going to be rooting for you" said Obama, who added that he would be following the games on ESPN to make sure the USA was doing well.

Former President Clinton was there in his capacity as honorary chairman of the USA Bid Committee seeking the 2018 or 2022 World Cup.

Clinton and Biden will be going to the World Cup.
