FIFA lifted its international ban on El Salvador because FIFA says the government is no longer interfering with the game. FIFA had barred El Salvador from international play earlier this monthafter the government refused to recognize the authorities running soccer in the Central American country.
Lifting the ban means El Salvador’s three-man refereeing squad will be allowed toofficiate at the World Cup.
