[WORLD CUP 2014] How bad are things going in Brazil, host of the 2014 World Cup? Organizers have dropped Sao Paulo’s Morumbi Stadium because the city hasn't come up with financial guarantees.

A World Cup without a stadium in Sao Paulo is unimaginable. It's Brazil's largest city and economic center.

Plans were to host games through the semifinals at the Morumbi Stadium, due to undergo $135 million in renovations to create a 68,000-capacity venue.

Only last month FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke complained about how work on Brazil's 12 stadiums had fallen way behind schedule.
