[OFF THE POST] The much-maligned vuvuzela claimed its first victim when Germany fan Sven Wipperfuerth was diagnosed with tinnitus, ringing in the ears, after another fan at the Germany-Australia World Cup match started blaring the noisemaker after Lukas Podolski scored for the Germans in their 4-0. win.
"It was so loud that I winced," Wipperfuerth told tabloid Bild.
The ringing in his ears was so bad that he visited a doctor, who diagnosed him with tinnitus and excused him from work for five days.
