Argentine Carlos Tevez says it was selfish of him not to own up to the fact that he was offside for his opening goal in Argentina's 3-1 win over Mexico on Sunday.

He says he thought Italian referee Roberto Rosetti had signaled correctly that he was offside when he headed on Lionel Messi's shot. The Manchester City star said he was happy to see Rosetti signal that the goal was allowed. "I know I was offside," he said. "I know it was selfish but as long as they say it was a goal, it's OK for me and the team."

Tevez believes Argentina, winner of its first four games, can capture its third World Cup. "The team is growing in every single game," he said.
