[AWARDS]Germany’s Thomas Mueller is the favorite to win the Hyundai Best Young Player, given to the best under-21 player at the World Cup.

The 20-year-old Mueller scored four goals in Germany’s first five games but missed the semifinals against Spain because he received two yellow cards.

Ghanaian Andre Ayew, the son of former star Abedi Pele, and Mexico’s Giovani dos Santos are the other finalists.

Players must be born after Jan. 1, 1989, to be eligible.

The only American eligible for consideration was Jozy Altidore.

Germany’s Lukas Podolskiwon the first award in 2006.
