Islamic authorities in Malaysia disapprove of Manchester United's jersey, because it has a logo with a red devil holding a trident.
“Satan is for us our enemy … It’s the wrong value. Satan is always bad,” said Harussani Zakaria, a cleric from northern Perak state.
Manchester United, nicknamed the Red Devils, is among the most widely supported soccer clubs in Malaysia, about 60 percent of whose population of 28 million is Muslim.
Zakaria said many soccer fans were unaware of the image on the Man U emblem, and that although other clerics shared his opinion, they didn’t plan to pass an edict banning the attire. “We just advise people not to wear this,” he said.
