U.S. striker Jozy Altidore is close to signing with Turkish club Besiktas according to reports in the Spanish media. If the Florida product does make the move, it will mark his third country and fourth team since leaving the New York Red Bulls for Spain's Villarreal in 2008 on a $10 million transfer.

Altidore played only six games (1 goal) after joining Villarreal, which loaned him to Spanish second division club Xerez for the second half of the 2008-09 season. But Xerex gave Altidore no playing time. He spent the 2009-10 season on loan with English Premier League club Hull City, which was relegated as Altidore struck one goal in 30 appearances.

The 21-year-old Altidore went scoreless while starting all four games for the USA at the 2010 World Cup. Besiktas coach Bernd Schuster recently signed offensive midfielder Guti, whom Schuster coached at Real Madrid. Besiktas won the 2009 Turkish league and cup double, and finished fourth last season. It is competing in this year's Europa League.
