American fans probably wish Glasgow Rangers manager Walter Smith would have given more time to the American players he's had on his roster the past two years rather than search for new ones. Yet Smith has dispatched his chief assistant, former international Ally McCoist, to attend the USA-Brazil game to evaluate possible acquisitions.
DaMarcus Beasley is looking for a new club after playing sporadically for Rangers, and Maurice Edu has yet to establish himself has a regular starter but has passed on information to Smith and McCoist about his U.S. teammates who might be available.
