[MLS] The Chicago Fire signed midfielder Victor Pineda from its 2010 Development Academy under-15/16 national championship team, making him the club's first home-grown signing.

Pineda, who will be eligible to play for the first team immediately, previously attended the U.S. under-17 national team program in Bradenton, Fla., before returning to the Fire academy program, in which he was one of the six original signees.

Pineda, who spent two seasons with the Chicago Fire Juniors and three seasons with the Chicago Fire Academy, attends Plainfield East High School, where he played last season as a junior.

He is the 15th homegrown player signed by an MLS club.
